For the love of Dog... Where it all began!
I inherited my love of the countryside and field sports from my grandfather, who was a gamekeeper in Herefordshire. I started working his Labradors in the late 1990s at the age of ten and was soon competing in Gundog Working Tests, as well as going beating, picking up and shooting whenever I
could.
After many years of dogs, tests, trials, picking up and shooting being an addictive hobby which I would save up all my annual leave for, in 2016 decided to swap a career in the NHS as a Therapy Radiographer for a career with Gundogs.
Throughout the autumn and winter I spend my time picking up, beating - starting with grouse in August at the Bolton Abbey Estate in Yorkshire, and complete the rest of the season from September at the Salperton Park Estate and other shoots in Gloucestershire. I also compete, Judge and help at Field Trials whenever I have the opportunity.
Shooting is another great passion of mine and where possible the dogs always join me on the peg on – there is no greater feeling of satisfaction to retrieve the birds that I have shot with my own dogs once the drive has finished.
I regularly compete in Field Trials and Gundog Working Tests. I am Chairman of the United Retriever Club (Border Counties & Cotswolds Area), and a committee member of the Bristol & West Working Gundog Society and the Sountern & Western Counties Field Trial Society.
To date I have made up three Field Trial Champions and qualified for the IGL Retriever Championship four times since 2016.
In 2016 I was selected to represent England with FTCh Windoogpack Coral in the Home Nations Field Trial. This special occasion was organised to celebrate HM The Queens 90th Birthday.
In March 2023 I was added to the UK Kennel Club’s A Panel of Field Trial Judges for Retrievers.
